Mr. Bhaskar Chalasani

Mr. Bhaskar Chalasani is a serial entrepreneur, technocrat, and Indic historian whose career blends global industrial rigour with a lifelong commitment to social equity, farmer welfare, and indigenous sustainable growth.

Early career & global foundation

He began his career in the United States with the Ford Motor Company, where he developed a foundation in world-class manufacturing, lean operations, and high-level industrial engineering — disciplines that would later shape every venture he led in India.

Industrial leadership in India

Returning to India, he joined the family's industrial interests and co-founded Coastal Papers Limited alongside his father — a major paper manufacturing facility in East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.

Biofuels pioneer — Naturol BioEnergy

In 2008 he established Naturol BioEnergy Limited at Vakalapudi IDA, Kakinada — a ₹140 crore Export-Oriented Unit and one of the world's largest integrated biodiesel plants of its time. Naturol converted waste and high-FFA oils into EN-standard biodiesel for global energy majors including Shell and Vitol.

He also co-designed India's first retail biodiesel dispenser with L&T and set up the country's first 100% biodiesel retail outlet in rural India — putting clean fuel directly into the hands of farmers.

The complex delivered a series of first-of-its-kind engineering breakthroughs under his stewardship. It housed the largest de-acidification column ever built for biodiesel, engineered to process used oils with free fatty acid (FFA) content as high as 30% — paired with an industrial-scale esterification section that was commissioned successfully for the first time anywhere in the world at that scale. Built on this platform, Naturol exported 300 TPD of EU-EIN registered biodiesel to the European Union alongside pharmaceutical-grade glycerin as a co-product — establishing India on the global biofuels map.

The international programme was anchored by an MoU with DEULA Nienburg, one of the world's leading agri-skilling centres in Germany, hands-on benchmarking of European precision-agriculture machinery, and project finance support secured from HSH Nordbank.

A specialist in the turnaround of stressed assets, Mr. Chalasani has a proven track record of reviving distressed companies and pivoting them toward modern, green, and sustainable business models.

Personal philosophy & social impact

Beyond the boardroom he is a historian, fascinated by the cultural and economic evolution of Indic society, and a lifelong advocate of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family — as the operating principle for an integrated rural economy. He dedicates his time to the empowerment of those in inequity, focused on three long-arc commitments:

At Agropolis, that decades-long platform now powers a single mission: 1,000 modular CBG units across rural India by 2035 — each one a self-contained engine of energy, nutrition, soil restoration, and farmer prosperity rooted in One Health and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Founder's mission for Agropolis

His life's purpose — and the meaning he draws from this work — is to build landscape-integrated agri clusters in every mandal and district of India, scaling to 750+ Agropolis clusters by 2040. Each cluster is a self-sustaining rural engine of energy, food, feed, and livelihood — together designed to position India alongside China as the world's No. 1 agri-economy.
